Transformation of stunning traditional hardwood orangery in in West Sussex
Transformation of a lean-to pvc conservatory into a stunning traditional hardwood orangery
Having just purchased this spacious, ranch style property in a leafy West Sussex village, our clients were keen to set about updating the living space. And in particular the lean-to sunroom, which was not a thing of beauty, nor due to the nature of its construction, was it a room that could be used comfortably all year round, overheating in the summer and freezing in winter.
The resulting hardwood orangery not only creates a fabulous extension but also transforms the whole elevation of the property.
The existing base is extended to create a larger room, with a full height wall on the left elevation using reclaimed brick and local stone to match the existing materials. The roof lantern is set within an insulated flat roof. And the double-glazed, Solar Control glass in the lantern, combined with electrically operated roof vents ensures year-round comfort, whatever the weather. The factory painted hardwood windows and doors and with feature pilasters on the corners enhance the sense of warmth and luxury.
Anything is possible with a little imagination and determination!
