A contemporary, orangery style, kitchen extension to a traditional rural property near Haslemere, Surrey
Minimalist aluminium frames, combined with large sections of full height glazing provides a breathtaking contrast in an otherwise traditional rural setting.
The client had a very clear idea of what he wanted to achieve and that clarity is very much a benefit when we are designing something away from traditional norms.
The property already had a very modern kitchen, with plenty of brushed aluminium surfaces and clean, simple lines and it was this theme that was required to be reflected in the orangery, which was to provide an integrated dining area to the kitchen.
With the property set on the edge of severly sloping ground, the construction was a challenge, with deep piled foundations required.
This design in its entirety will not be everybody's cup of tea (we love it, more importantly, the client loves it!) but it does give you a good idea of what can be achieved when you do start thinking 'outside the box'
(We have not shown the whole property in the photos in order to protect the privacy of the client)
