Traditional Timber Orangery

Large orangery extention of the kitchen and dining area of a property in Poole, Dorset
Although already a substantial property, the traditional separation of kitchen and dining area did not suit contemporary entertaining, whereby the dining area is more integrated into the cooking space, providing a more convivial environment for host and guests alike.
We removed most of the rear house elevation to be covered by the orangery, including the bay, which provided a large open space, transforming the kitchen and dining areas. In order to provide some break in the length of the rear orangery elevation and to help divide the space internally, we projected the left half of the orangery approximately 700mm forward of the right half. We also installed two separate lanterns which further helped create a break in the space without the use of a wall or partition.
(We have used a digital reproduction of orangery pending completion of final internal decorations and landscaping of the garden. Once completed further images will follow, with kind permission of the client!)
